I hope you all had a fantastic weekend.
There is something deeply personal for both myself and for you that I want to address here today. It's why you aren't getting the most bang for your buck when it comes to your health when all this time you have been digging deep and doing everything possible to feel, look, and perform better.
As someone who works in the wellness industry, does my best to eat healthy, and gets out there every day to move and improve my mind and my body, I too have seen that sometimes the results of my efforts fall short in showing improvement.
When it comes to health, our digestive health is the gateway of communication to all areas of the body. Think of it as the Sentinel System....that which looks over and protects the rest of the body to ensure all systems are functioning optimally. So knowing this, it makes sense to address any imbalances we have in our body by focusing on the GI tract first and foremost.
There are several cleanses and dietary protocols that are touted as being THE ANSWER to your health and fitness program. But a diet is only as good as the body is healthy that receives it. What I mean by that is that if you have a compromised GI tract, there is no diet in that can actually fix your problem without actually healing the actual problem to begin with. So although a dietary modification may be necessary to eliminate any discomfort or damage to the gut, repairing the intestinal lining so that you are absorbing nutrients more efficiently is what really matters.
By eliminating the foods that cause inflammation, primarily gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, sugars, processed foods, and most grains in general (at least for the time being), you allow your body to rest a bit. You also need to look at the medications, supplements, and fitness products like protein powders and performance enhancing supplements as these can have either stimulants or hidden allergens that could be problematic.
By cleansing the system of accumulated waste and inflammation caused by either over consumption of foods, medications, and supplements, you allow your body to purge toxins and let go of the old in order to repair itself.
Implementing specific supplements to help repair the actual mucosal lining and seal off the gut from any intestinal permeability would be next in line. This would involve use of L-Glutamine amino acid, heavy dosing of probiotics, and possibly some herbs to help eliminate any bacteria, parasites, or fungus both inside the gut and that which has passed through to the blood stream. This is here where the miracles happen.
When you seal....you heal. And this is the missing link that most people forget about. When going on a cleanse, it is not for the sole purpose of cleansing...it's to achieve a state of health that can be maintained while you are not on the cleanse. And that comes from sealing off the internal environment (your gut) from the external blood stream.
For some it may take just a small series of sessions with a short period of time inoculating the gut with healthy probiotics and a gut healing protocol. And for some who may have more chronic long term health issues or autoimmunity, it may take a bit longer. But rest assure, that it doesn't have to be complicated and it certainly doesn't need to deprive you of some amazing food, energy, or your sanity.
When you properly care for your digestive system, you take your health to another level. By digesting, assimilating, and eliminating, which is what the body was meant to do naturally, you allow all other body processes to function optimally. You dial in your immune system. You sleep better at night. Your appetite is strong and you are satiated between meals. You perform better in your daily activities which could be anything from athletics to daily chores. This happens because your mind is on point and your health is dialed in. And there truly isn't a better place to be.
- Start by removing the most common foods and products that you are consuming daily. This may take some investigative work. So write it down and zero in on everything that you're doing from your first cup of coffee in the morning to that last pill you pop at night.
- Repair your gut by cleansing your system of years of toxins and that have accumulated in the digestive system and the tissues with a series of colon hydrotherapy sessions. This not only helps to rid your body of the accumulated waste, but it also strengthens the walls of the intestines enhancing your overall elimination cycle.
- Reinoculate your system with healthy flora in an effort to help optimize your immune system and keep all bacteria in the digestive system in sync.
