Well, you simply won’t feel like yourself. You may experience one, some, or all of these signs and symptoms, plus many others not listed here:
Mucous or blood in your stool
Irregular Menstrual Cycles
Thyroid and adrenal imbalances
Many people experience some or many of these symptoms not realizing that it truly comes down to the integrity of the digestive system. Your gut health determines how all other bodily systems sync together—almost like the conductor of a symphony. In order to get the music playing beautifully, we must tweak our instruments.
Stop doing what you’re doing.
This is the time to reprioritize your health and wellbeing and reprogram yourself. Little by little crowd out the obviously damaging foods, chemicals, and stressors in your life with nourishing wholesome foods and slowly eliminating all processed nonfoods. Seek out holistic and natural remedies vs over the counter quick fixes. Work on reducing your stress by prioritizing what’s important to you in your life---healthy relationships, exercise, and mind/body techniques. You can, over the course of time, see a dramatic increase in your health while decreasing unnecessary inflammation and extended health issues.
Best thing to do is to take note of your lifestyle. Journal. Keep tabs on your food consumption, activity, sleep, and social life. And how you not only feel physically, but emotionally after these activities. Be conscious of how you’re living your life---after all, it IS your responsibility.
Food eliminations play a huge part in restoring digestive and immune system functions. The most commonly consumed inflammatory foods include wheat, gluten, grains, dairy, soy, eggs, nightshade vegetables (peppers, white potatoes, eggplant, & tomatoes), sugar, fructose (or high fructose fruits). A wonderful approach to gut restoration is to cut the starch and sugars that will breed overgrowth of unhealthy bacteria. Going back to our primal way of eating including grassfed organic meats, traditional fats like coconut and palm oils, tallow, and lard, green veggies and low glycemic/sugar berries is an optimal way to start the healing process.
Consider a cleanse. Cleansing helps to clear away not only the physical bacteria, toxins, and build up, but our emotional center runs right through our digestive system. Resetting your digestive system through a good cleanse helps to pull toxins from the tissues, reducing inflammation, and resets your body, state of mind, and wellbeing. Think of it as a system reboot.
We all have different and specific issues that need to be addressed and it’s never a one size-fits-all approach. You have to get in touch with how your body feels and how you would like it to feel. A great place to start is by addressing the nutritional component first. From there working on your stress levels, your level of activity, and reconnecting your mind and body helps to reset your system. Inflammation comes from many different factors…..so be sure to address all areas of your life.
